DONATE VIA PAYPAL
Please note, this will enable you to donate to Pachawawas - our UK charity. It is not currently possible to donate directly to Traveller Not Tourist using PayPal
You can donate via paypal using any of the credit or debit cards above, or with your paypal account.
If you wish your donation to be used for a specific project or purpose, please email us to let us know, otherwise it will go towards the current appeal.
If you live in the UK and pay tax please download this Gift Aid form, complete it and send it to us at info@pachawawas.com because we will then be able to claim the tax back on your donation - that's £2.50 for every £10! If you have any problems with the form please contact us and we will send you one.
We think you have a right to know exactly where your money goes so here's the lowdown - When we receive your donation in Peru we will either use it to build the new orphanage, give it straight to the Manager of the Orphanage, who will use it for whatever the children/orphanage needs (nappies, milk, food, rent etc) or we will use it to buy necessary equipment or pay bills/maintenance etc for the School.
However, before it gets to us paypal will take 3.4% of your donation through transaction fees plus 20p (£0.20 UK) - click here for the Paypal webpage about charges. If you are donating money in any currency other than UK pounds, they will also take a percentage for the currency exchange (the amount depends on which currency you donate in). There will also be a transfer charge between the UK and Peru but we'll do our best to keep this as low as possible.
If you don't have spare cash to donate, perhaps you would like to donate some time to our cause (you can even do it from the comfort of your own home!) - see below for ideas.
If this is something you are interested in (and you are in the UK) perhaps you would like to attend our Pachawawas Volunteers and Supporters Meeting on October 15th 2011 in Bristol, UK. For more details, just email us or take a look at the Facebook page and see below for our skilled help wishlist
VOLUNTEERING FROM HOME
One of the things that will really help to sustain and improve our project work, and ensure that it keeps on improving, is exposure. If you know of any places or websites where advertising about Traveller Not Tourist could be beneficial (think traveller's websites, churches, universities and colleges etc) we would be very grateful if you could put up a sign or even a note with this website address on it. I can send you a prewritten statement to put on websites and/or the logo for links. Just email me at the address below and I will gladly send it to you. We can also send you marketing materials (posters and flyers) although we would appreciate it if we could send you the electronic versions and you could print them out yourself to keep down our administration costs.
Also, if you know of any organisations which arrange project work for travellers (Gap year projects etc) and you think they might be interested in sending people to this project, please let them know about us (or let us know about them).
You might also want to do some fundraising. I did a lot before I left the UK and it was great fun. Think about the resources you have available to you (and don't forget, friends and family are often the best resources!) Perhaps you know a lot of DJs/musicians in which case a dance/battles of the bands night at a local venue might be the best option. Or maybe you know lots of sporty people and could organise a local olympics event. You'll be amazed how willing people are to help out for a good cause. And don't be shy - try your luck by, for example, asking famous local people to attend or even perform, what's the worst that can happen? Failing that, why not try a sponsored event - a silence or famine, sponsored pub crawl (could get messy!) or even a sponsored skydive (some places let you jump for free if you get enough sponsorship). If all of that sounds like too much work, why not get together all the stuff you, and your friends and relatives, don't want anymore and have a jumble sale or car boot sale (yard sale for those of you in the US).
I am more than willing to help out with tips and emotional support so why not give it a go? It is for a good cause after all!
We would love to hear from you if you think you could help us with any of the following:
- Building a new TNT website
- Designing marketing materials
- Designing Point of Sale signs etc
- Designing email templates for nicer newsletters
- Applying for grants
- Recruiting volunteers (to work in Peru and/or from their own countries)

A note from the author:
It might seem that anything you do or donate is just a grain of sand on a vast beach but we have worked with these children, we've seen the joy that simple things, like salt dough, chalk to write on the floor with and even a hug, give them. An important ingredient in creating a better world is the belief that things can get better and an even more important ingredient is to act to make sure your beliefs are realised. Nothing will ever get better if you don't do anything about it!
These children don't want mountain bikes, computer games or the latest Barbie. They just want to have enough food to eat, to be safe and to be loved. We are working to help them achieve this modest dream, and you can be part of that. Please help us to continue our important work.
