VOLUNTEER FOR FREE!

There is NO CHARGE for volunteering with us. The important thing for us is the children. Obviously donations are very welcome but we do not require that you give anything but your time.

DAY VISITS

Some of our projects can be visited for just one day so don't worry if you don't have a lot of time free.  Please note that we do ask you to actually engage in some activity as we do not want the children to feel like they are museum exhibits!

If you are interested, visit our office at Cruz Verde 300 B2, Arequipa (just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas) or contact Jay and Luis at travellernottourist@gmail.com. Please give us as much notice as possible!

If you decide to go, we will be glad to help you prepare, make sure you have all the information you need and take you to the project site.

VOLUNTEER FOR LONGER

We have worked out a month long volunteer program with Spanish lessons and accommodation (see below for more information). This package is just a suggestion so if it isn't quite what you were looking for, please contact Jay and Luis at travellernottourist@gmail.com or the office to arrange volunteering (and accommodation if you like). We are very flexible!

If we are unable to provide you with accommodation in the flat we will find you a suitable alternative.

THE PROGRAM

Week 1 consists of an intensive Spanish course to start you off (5 hours of lessons per day, Monday to Friday).  These will be one-on-one lessons so you can set the level and pace.  Lessons are held at the language school.

Weeks 2-4 you will work at one of the projects and also have 2 hours of Spanish lessons per day. Your project shifts will depend on the project and the Spanish lessons will be organised around these.

Daily tasks may include; Helping with homework, Teaching English, Art/Music/Drama workshops, Playing, Washing, Cleaning, Cooking, Construction and anything else that makes sense at the time!

You have the weekends free to spend as you choose.  There are many sites of interest in and around Arequipa for you to visit.  You can book tours, treks, bike rides etc. through our office. If you would rather just hang out around Arequipa there are lots of good cafes, restaurants, clubs, shops etc. and our volunteers tend to socialise quite a lot (pubbing, clubbing, going to the park etc)

The package does not include food so you are free to try the wealth of international cuisine Arequipa has to offer or cook for yourself in the fully equipped Volunteer Flat kitchens .

We want to be as flexible as possible so if you are looking for something different, please contact us to discuss your options.
